The little things...

Here is small list of just a few things that I have to laugh to myself about:

1. I am not good at taking escalators here. There is a mall very close to my flat, and when I go there and go to take the escalator, I always go the "wrong" side. I am usually in such a daze that I don't really notice until I'm almost walking into the people who are getting off of it. In addition to this, I realized that I am standing in the walk lane of the escalator and not the stand lane, as of course those are reversed as well.
2. I have already managed to set off the alarm at my flat three times. I know it took me a while to get used to locking cars doors when I moved to Edmonton, but this is causing worse problems. The first two times were yesterday morning when I was leaving for school, and instead of pressing the blue button for the gate to open, I pressed the green button thus turning on the motion censor, and then I walked and set the alarm off. I then repeated this almost immediately afterwards and then realized what I was doing wrong. Then later yesterday afternoon, my land lady put the censor on accidently and so I went into her part of the house to get a book, and set if off again. The alarm company is really going to like me.
3. In South Africa they call traffic lights robots. I am glad that I read this in a book somewhere before arriving, otherwise I worry that I may have ended up looking for silver robot things as landmarkers from the instructions that my land lady gave to me to help me find the Sports Science Institute.
4. Well it's official. My classmates already now how to make fun of me. Today we did a tour of the labs, and when the lab supervisor showed us the super cold freezers (one at -80 and the other at -35) the students reffered to them as my home. Cheers to all you in Edmonton.

More soon, and best wishes...

    Yello Anna!
So, I totally know what you mean about going the wrong direction all the time. I once was good at crossing the street, now I have to stop and think, then look right then look left. I also find that whenever I'm approaching anybody head on I go to the wrong side. I have to consicously go to the left now.

Anyhow, glad to hear things are well.

    talk to you soon

    Hey Anna,

Sounds like you are having an awesome time. I wish I could say the same around here, but hey, we survived tuition week. Only 3 1/2 more months to go!!! Not that I am counting.

It's crazy to think that you are so far away but I am so glad to hear that things are going well. I have this amazing mental picture of your flat and it's beautiful.

I hope you continue to have fun and be safe. Take care and don't forget about us back in Edmonton.

    Jordan
