Photo update
Looking through all my pics and realized that I have been able to get into some fun activities despite all the school work.
These first few pics are from an afternoon at the pool in Observatory where Lucy dressed me up and tried to recreate a famous Vogue cover starring the legendary Jerry Hall.

A huge highlight of the year was Elke and Dan's visit in May. We were able to tour around Cape Town, go up to the Cederberg and Elke & I had a great time celebrating our birthdays together.

At the end of May, I also had the opportunity to travel up to the province of Limpopo, a province in North/West South Africa that borders Zimbabwe and Botswana. Here I was working with CHIPS, the Community Health Intervention Programmes. We landed in Polokwane "International" Airport and then travelled through Tzaneen to the town of Mafarana and Motupa. We were working with seniors and in a programme for schools. During our time there was met and trained some field workers who were unemployed qualified nurses to help us with fitness testing. Limpopo was a beautiful lush place, rich in produce and hospitality. Afterwards, we also visited Alexandra, a township in the centre of Johannesburg in the province of Guateng where we saw peri-burban South African life. In Alex, there are 700,000 people living in 3km2, a truly amazing set up. Alex is really a mixing pot of people, of the 11 national languages we had one field worker who could speak 8 of them. Below is just one photo of a boy and the school water tap.

2006 has also been the year with many new babies. If you saw the London/Canada pics on Graham's site, you would see the pic of Michalea's new son Thomas. Back here in Cape Town, Marie and David had a little girl who is now almost 6 months. Here's a few pics of Anna Katrina...

Also, before heading to Canada (via London), Graham and I made a quick trip up to Durban support Mike Wood was competing in the classic Comrades Marathon, a 88km race.

After returning from Canada, Baby Audrey was born at the end of July and so Graham became an uncle. Also arriving was Graham's cousin and 3 of his mates from New Zealand who brought motorbikes and have ambitions to ride up to London. Click here to check out the African Odyssey.

Boys Leaving on their adventure

So, it looks as though I've managed to stay busy enough with things like driving around CT with Lucy in her little bakkie

And heading up Table Mountain with the Shillington's

Until next time
