Christmas in Powell River
The holidays have been very nice in Powell River. Elke and I managed to rush from the airport in Comox and make the ferry over to Powell River arriving at home in the early afternoon on December 22nd. Mom met us at the ferry, Dad arrived from work, and Trigve and Zoey were at home awaiting our arrival. Probably the biggest surprise is that Trig is now taller than me...and he's on 14!
On the 23rd, we had the annual Grimsrud Open House where the real attraction is the homeade egg nog that my Dad makes...In total, we probably had 50 people drop in throughout the day to enjoy the nog, the almost excessive amount of food, and meet Zoey, the new standard poodle that moved to Traff Rd. in August of this year. Many were worried that there may be a road block set up at at Traff and Pebble Beach Rd, but everyone made it home safely, usually having their children act as designated drivers.
On Christmas Eve, Santa delivered the new pajama's...Elke with pants with little cowboy boots and horses to go with her new "ranching" style, Trigve with Homer Simpson pants, and me with short shorts with horizontal stripes (I guess Santa didn't get the memo regarding slimming verticals stipes) and a "perfect 10" top.
Christmas Day started with the highlight of Trigve dressing up as a Christmas elf, and continuing to wear his red hat throughout the rest of the day. Dad made breakfast, as he does once a year. Mom outdid herself as usual making an extravagent Christmas spread, complete with Christmas crackers and funny Christmas hats.
On Boxing Day the Pebble Beach soccer game took place after a short delay to make sure that Owen was coming to play. In typical Hanson attire, the three boys arrived on time with various head peices and $12 walmart shoes and soon the game was underway. This year, Trigve took top honours with the game winning goal, although Team "born in even years" is sure to have score more goals overall.
